These Jimi Hendrix unreleased instrumental tracks were recorded on 4/02/69 at Olmstead Studios in New York. In 1982, this compilation was reportedly given by Hendrix's producer Alan Douglas to KPFA FM in Berkeley CA for an audio special on the rock icon. That year, KPFA produced Jimi Hendrix: The Radio Documentary . This 4-hour documentary includes previously unheard and rare recordings from Hendrix. Read more about this documentary here:...

What better way to follow our 500th upload than with some 501 Blues ? Not the Merle Haggard song, but Texas blues-rockers ZZ Top in April 1980 at Grugahalle in Essen, Germany on the Rockpalast TV show. This concert was broadcast on TV station WDR in Germany. In keeping with the theme, I added a live version of Blue Jean Blues from Lewiston, Maine in 1975 (from a FM broadcast, likely WBCN-Boston). Here's a video of ZZ Top performing Just Got Paid in 1980:...

Jefferson Airplane with Paul Kantner & Grace Slick at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, at the peak of their psychedelic era in 1967. Cover art poster by Sparta Graphics. This is believed to be from a run of 6 nights at the Fillmore in June 1967, recorded by Bill Graham and broadcast a few years later on KSAN. I wondered why this circulated as a KSAN broadcast among tape traders, since KSAN only started playing rock music in 1968. I researched it and found the answer. In 1972,...
